Aethel is designed around aesthetic curation, not just photo grids. You can combine your own photos, your saved Pinterest pins, and images from Unsplash, add text and colour blocks, and export your collage as a wallpaper or shareable image — all from your iPhone.
Can I add text to my collage?
Yes. Tap “Add text” and type custom words or affirmations straight onto a photo, in the real font and colour. Then drag the text anywhere in its cell, pinch to resize and twist to rotate it, just like in an Instagram story. A solid or see-through box keeps it readable on any photo, and you can combine text with images and colour blocks to tell a complete visual story.
What photo formats does Aethel support?
Aethel supports all standard iPhone photo formats including JPEG, PNG, and HEIC. You can also bring in your own saved Pinterest pins and search Unsplash without leaving the app.
Can I use my collage as an iPhone wallpaper?
Yes. Once your collage is complete, export it as a wallpaper sized to your iPhone's exact screen ratio. Set it as your lock screen or home screen directly from your camera roll.
Can I add spacing or rounded corners to my collage?
Yes. Tap the brush in the editor to open Board style: one slider puts space between your photos and around the edge, another rounds their corners, and you choose the colour that shows in the gaps. Your collage changes as you move the sliders, so you can try any style before you keep it. Keeping a style is part of Aethel Premium.
Can I rearrange the photos in my collage?
Yes. Press and hold a photo and drag it across the grid. Drop it on another photo and the two swap places; drop it on an empty cell and it moves there. It's the quickest way to try a different order until the collage feels right.
Are my collages saved if I switch to a new iPhone?
Yes, as long as you use iCloud. Aethel keeps your collages and their photos in your own private iCloud, so they sync between your iPhones and come back when you reinstall the app or set up a new iPhone. There's no Aethel account to create. Without iCloud the app works the same, and your collages stay on your iPhone.
